Issue 1 of Medical Writer Magazine is now live! I released it on 30 December 2024, with an official post on LinkedIn 🙂

Back in March 2024, I wanted to do something more exciting than an email newsletter to share information about medical writing with medical writers. I set up a poll on LinkedIn and about 300 people said yes to creating Medical Writer Magazine…which meant I had to make it happen!

Following through on my promise, I spent the next six months figuring out the best possible (read: financially and logistically sustainable) route to creating a magazine.

Yep. I had no idea what I was doing – sure I could write blogs, emails, courses and ebooks – but this was new territory. I really wanted the magazine to be bold, break some design rules, and ultimately be a go-to resource for careers and skills advice for medical writers.

I had to find authors (this was the hard part, as they would be volunteering their articles) and promise to make it worth their while. Then I luckily found a co-editor, Nicole Bezuidenhout, PhD (she’s a superstar!)

And I didn’t really know how big the magazine would be until I started designing it…and it turned out to be 70 pages!

After pouring many, many hours of love into Medical Writer Magazine, it was an incredible feat to wrap it all up and release it into the world just before the end of 2024.
