Pharmacist Virginia gets 500,000 views with the World Health Organization for antimicrobial awareness

I collaborated with the World Health Organization (WHO) to produce a video that helps raise awareness of antimicrobial resistance.

The challenge was to hit the points in the brief in a way that engages viewers so they get the key message of the video: we can use antibiotics in a responsible way to help keep them working for years to come.

The first video concept was to speak to the audience directly, as my persona “Pharmacist Virginia”. However, they wanted it to be more conversational. So I decided to revive a creative concept I used a few months ago – actually have a conversation in the pharmacy.

So I wrote a script for two people – myself as Pharmacist Virginia, and myself as a patient.

I dressed up as a patient returning a pack of unfinished antibiotics to the pharmacy. I recorded all my lines in front of a green screen so I could put a pharmacy background in the post edit.

Then I dressed up as Pharmacist Virginia and recorded all my lines, imagining I am speaking to the patient in the pharmacy, again in front of a green screen so I could put a dispensary background in the the post edit.

I put everything together in Adobe Premier Pro, and then submit it to the WHO technical team.

The video was 49 seconds long and it reached 500,000 views in 3 days on Instagram!

It was an honour and privilege to be asked by Dr Siya from the WHO Fides team to create this video.

I scripted, filmed and edited the video myself 🙂
