πŸ–Ό 1. If there is no preview of an image, you get much fewer clicks.

There’s also a dedicated space for videos and images that people can scroll through on platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook.

πŸ’‘Top tip: Upload a screenshot of the page the reader will land on after they click, a text quote as an image or a quick Canva animation.

πŸ’‘ And please consider including Alt Text – a short description of your image for those less able to see well.

πŸ’‘ Triple top tip: Add some music, set the mood for your content πŸ™‚

πŸ“½ 2. Make sure text bubbles are not positioned too low on your video

Otherwise the description text covers it up, and nobody will be able to read them!

πŸ’‘Top tip: Always preview your video to check all text is visible. Please edit your auto-captions too (I work for ORCHA not orcas!). And ensure there is a good contrast ratio between the text and the background (example: light colour text on a dark background video).

πŸ’‘ Create vertical or square videos – easier to repurpose πŸ™‚

🚦 3. It doesn’t matter if you get zero views the second you upload it

Remember the algorithm needs time to figure out what your post is about and then catalogue it.

It’s all about having multiple digital “assets” that work to explain what you stand for as a brand. (Think of how many people will see it in future!) Build your values and personality library!

πŸ’‘Top tip: Include keywords – always!

πŸ“ 4. For the love of jellybeans, check that you have correctly spelt a person’s name.

I’ll admit I’ve done this twice – uploaded, deleted and gone to edit a video over a “c” instead of a “k”.

πŸ’‘Top tip: Check their official social pages for their correct name, then write it out by hand 10 times so you don’t forget!

πŸ‘©β€πŸ’» 5. Keep a copy of your copy!

There is nothing worse than typing out a fantastic post, pressing “post” and then it disappears into thin air 😱

πŸ’‘Top tip: Write in a document that autosave (like Microsoft Word or Google Docs), so you keep track of all your copy and can create templates for future posts as a series.
